Using Permissions in Salesforce

Managing permissions in Salesforce can be a pain, especially if you have to do it with multiple users all at once. Fortunately, there are a few tools you can use to help with this problem.

The Permissioner

This tool makes it much easier to revoke and assign permissions to multiple users in Salesforce. The tool is entirely free to use. It reduces the amount of time it takes to manage permissions by adding a simple area for selecting permissions to grant to groups of users all at once.

The interface has an option for searching by permissions so you can get a list of users that are listed for each type of permission. You can add assignment permissions for thousands of assignments all in just a few seconds.

Activity Permissions

This service has a monthly cost, but it adds a number of abilities to your permissions management tool box. For example, you can stop individual profiles from editing or looking at activities after they are finished.

The key here is that the service has environments regulated by the FDA that allows people to know that activities are happening without being able to view them unless they are on the relevant team.  You can also set some areas to Public Read Only. There are a number of solutions that work with one click and allow managers to fully trace every single activity that occurs in Salesforce, including how permissions were granted or denied.
