Applications for cleaning data in Salesforce

Oct 23, 2014 | Admin, Data Integration, Latest News, Sales Cloud

One problem that often happens on Salesforce is conflicting data. It helps to have some tools to catch data that’s incorrect before it becomes a problem. Here are a few tools that help with data cleaning.

Cloudingo

This tool helps to clean up your database and other large numbers of imported files by checking all of them for duplicates and then removing them to keep everything clean. There’s a free trial for those who want to try it out.

The service uses the cloud to accomplish deduplication tasks. It can merge duplicates that are already present in a data set automatically. It can also get rid of imported files that are duplicates on the Salesforce dashboard.

It has a drag and drop user interface and it even has the ability to track all changes in logs so you know exactly what the application has done.

DupeBlocker

Another similar application is DupeBlocker, except this one blocks duplicate database entries in real time.  Where Cloudingo and other similar apps can clean up databases after the fact, DupeBlocker type apps help make sure that duplicates don’t get into the system in the first place.

It just prevents users from making duplicate entries for Contacts or Leads. This app works with custom Salesforce objects as well. The app functions without the need for Adobe Flash, and all of the information stays completely within Salesforce which means that you don’t have to worry about the added security concern of dealing with sensitive data being stored in yet another area.
