28 Aug Meet Mikey Hartinger — Simplus’ August Employee Feature
The August Simplus employee feature comes from our Digital Practice—Mikey Hartinger! Mikey is a Salesforce B2C Developer and wiz at eCommerce design. With his kindness and underdog spirit, Mikey makes both his coworkers and clients feel welcomed and valued. He’s an incredible asset to our team, and we wanted to get to know him a little bit better:
What do you do at Simplus?
I mainly work on the Digital Team as a Salesforce B2C Developer and hop into the architect role when needed.
What are some achievements of which you are most proud? Both professionally and personally.
Professionally: Our team just recently launched a rad eCommerce site for a client, and I’m super lucky and proud to be a part of it. But I always think back to this charity project we worked on for one of our sites. I’ve always wanted to either work for a charity or create my own. So that was pretty special.
Personally: I was never really a scholar when I was in school. I mainly played hours upon hours of video games until my mom would yell at me to do my homework. But about three years ago, I randomly started learning Japanese, and it’s really stuck. I’m far from fluent, but I was able to visit Japan last September and have some really great conversations and memories. It’s motivated me to get better, and I’m proud of the progress I’ve made there.
What are your hobbies?
I have a habit of trying way too many hobbies and not having enough time for any of them! I’ve been playing piano for about a year, and I’m still so so bad, but it’s been fun. I’d also really like to get into drawing and painting. I think I mainly just enjoy talking to people and learning what they like.
Why do you like working at Simplus?
Moving to Simplus was like moving into Hogwarts. It was this magical, perfect moment. Remote culture is really hard to cultivate, and I feel that Simplus knocks it out of the park. There’s a whole wacky cast of characters that make our Slack channels feel alive. I’m also a huge fan of the “Underdog” mentality here. Trying and failing isn’t punished—it’s just treated as a part of your learning experience.
Tell us a little bit about your professional background.
I graduated with a software development degree and have been working for this digital team for about four years now. I’ve developed for some really cool name brands.
What do you feel are your greatest contributions that help make Simpus the best consulting firm?
At the very least, I just hope I’m welcoming to those that come into the team. I never want anyone to feel left out or unappreciated for their hard work.
If you are playing Two Truths and a Lie, what answers stump people every time?
– I once gave Ryan Gosling an apple.
– I used to have blue hair.
– I have a cat named Egg.
Congratulations, Mikey—an invaluable part of our team!
