01 Nov Meet Michael Christensen — Simplus’ October Hitter in the Ranks
This month’s featured employee is Michael Christensen. He may have only started five months ago, but Michael has already made a measurable impact on the quality of work we produce here at Simplus.
It’s not often that you come across someone who can knock out the downward dog position then carve one out of wood. So we wanted to learn more about Michael, his interests, goals, achievements, and how he feels about his new position with Simplus.
Here’s what we learned.
What do you do at Simplus?
I am an associate consultant.
What are some achievements of which you are most proud both professionally and personally?
Personally, I am most proud of my military service. Professionally, I am proud that I have been able to contribute to Simplus’ Certified Consultant Goal by getting both admin and platform developer certifications.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy weightlifting, yoga, and woodworking.
Why do you like working at Simplus?
I like working at Simplus because every single person I talk to is excited to be here. Being in a work environment where people are excited about what they do and the people they work with is both motivating and inspiring.
Tell us a little bit about your professional background.
I started going to UVU to study computer science when I transitioned out of the Marine Corps. I had no workforce experience in technology but, while going to school, I gained a passion for the technical challenges programming offers. As I was nearing the point where I would have to start looking for a job, I was lucky enough to have a friend refer me to the Salesforce Military program and recommended I apply for the Simplus Bootcamp. Simplus has given me a huge opportunity by allowing me to enter the technology industry.
What do you feel are your greatest contributions that help make Simplus the best consulting firm?
I believe my appreciation for lifelong learning will allow me to contribute to Simplus. I have seen in previous workplaces, especially in the military, how important it is to never stop learning about your occupation and become a master of your trade. I plan to never stop actively learning and improving.
If you are playing Two Truths and a Lie, what answers stump people every time?
When playing two truths and a lie, people tend not to believe that I have sat in President Obama’s limo (I have) and instead believe that I used to make and sell my own deer jerky (I don’t do that at all).
Congratulations, Michael! We’re so happy that you’re part of the Simplus family!
